Summary

This bill nullifies 23 rules and guidance documents that the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection previously withdrew, thereby restoring those consumer protection rules and guidance. The restored guidance covers topics including fair credit reporting, data protection and security, debt collection practices, overdraft procedures, whistleblower protections, lending discrimination, medical debt handling, servicemember protections, and contract term fairness. By restoring these withdrawn rules, the bill reinstitutes consumer financial protections that the CFPB removed in May 2025. The rules address examination practices, home loan financing, credit opportunity requirements, billing practices, negative option marketing, and various other consumer financial protection areas.
