SJRES 153 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
A joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection relating to the withdrawal of the rule relating to "Bulletin 2022-06: Unfair Returned Deposited Item Fee Assessment Practices".
Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection relating to the withdrawal of the rule relating to ``Bulletin 2022-06: Unfair Returned Deposited Item Fee Assessment Practices''.
Summary
This joint resolution uses the Congressional Review Act to disapprove a rule by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that would withdraw the agency's 2022 bulletin on unfair returned deposited item fee practices. If passed, the disapproval would prevent the Bureau from withdrawing the bulletin, keeping the consumer protection guidance in effect. The resolution declares that the Bureau's withdrawal rule shall have no force or effect. Banks would remain subject to the 2022 bulletin addressing unfair fee assessment practices related to returned checks or deposits.
