Summary

This bill modifies work requirements for individuals receiving federal assistance programs. It amends the Food and Nutrition Act to allow parents and household members with dependent children to meet SNAP work requirements through 6 months of work, and adjusts the list of individuals exempt from these requirements. The bill extends similar work requirement rules to two additional housing assistance programs: public housing under Section 3 of the Housing Act, and tenant-based rental assistance under Section 8. Individuals in these housing programs who meet income eligibility standards would need to comply with the same work requirements as SNAP recipients, subject to the same exemptions.
