EATS Act of 2025

To amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to remove certain eligibility disqualifications that restrict otherwise eligible students from participating in the supplemental nutrition assistance program, and for other purposes.

Summary

This Act amends the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to remove eligibility restrictions that currently disqualify students from receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. The legislation eliminates the special restrictions on students enrolled in institutions of higher education, allowing bona fide students enrolled at least half time in schools, training programs, or colleges to qualify for SNAP based on standard income and other household eligibility criteria. The Act makes conforming amendments to related federal statutes that reference the removed restrictions. These changes take effect on January 2, 2026.
