HR 1198 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
To amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to modify work requirements under the supplemental nutrition assistance program, and for other purposes.
Summary
The Let's Get to Work Act modifies work requirements for participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The bill extends the work requirement duration to include a six-month requirement for parents or household members responsible for dependent children, in addition to existing requirements. The bill also expands exemptions from work requirements to include individuals under six years of age and married individuals responsible for dependents who are living with a spouse in compliance with work requirements. Additionally, the bill applies these same SNAP work requirements to individuals receiving public housing assistance and tenant-based rental assistance under Section 8 programs, subject to the same exemptions.
