Latest action (Jul 28, 2000) Referred to the Subcommittee on Ground Transportation.

Summary

This bill would delay the implementation deadline for regulations requiring audible warnings at highway-rail grade crossings from one year to ten years. It would also modify supplementary safety measure requirements at these grade crossings. Specifically, it removes certain provisions related to median barriers preventing vehicle movement and provisions regarding flashing lights paired with gates that do not completely block travel across railroad lines. The amendments adjust both the timeline for implementing audible warning requirements and the specifications for certain safety equipment at highway-rail grade crossings.
