SJRES 149 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
A joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection relating to the withdrawal of the rule relating to "Truth in Lending (Regulation Z); Consumer Protections for Home Sales Financed Under Contracts for Deed".
S. J. RES. 149 Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection relating to the withdrawal of the rule relating to ``Truth in Lending (Regulation Z); Consumer Protections for Home Sales Financed Under Contracts for Deed''.
Summary
This joint resolution provides for congressional disapproval of a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau decision to withdraw a rule about Truth in Lending (Regulation Z) protections for home sales financed under contracts for deed. The original rule was issued in 2024 to provide consumer protections for this financing arrangement. The CFPB withdrew this rule in 2025, but this joint resolution, if passed by Congress, would disapprove that withdrawal. The resolution uses the Congressional Review Act process, which allows Congress to overturn agency rules with expedited procedures. If passed, the original consumer protection rule would be reinstated and remain in effect.
