Summary

This joint resolution would disapprove a rule issued by the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection that withdrew an earlier guidance bulletin on medical debt collection and consumer reporting requirements. The disapproval would prevent the agency's withdrawal from taking effect and keep the original 2022 bulletin in force. Under the Congressional Review Act, if Congress passes this resolution, the rule to withdraw the bulletin would be nullified. The resolution specifically addresses medical debt practices in connection with the No Surprises Act, which regulates surprise medical billing.
