HR 7593 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Reserve Forces Travel Fairness Act
To amend title 37, United States Code, to reimburse a member of the uniformed services for costs incurred to rent a motor vehicle for travel relating to a period of reserve component inactive-duty training, or of Ready Reserve muster duty, performed more than 150 miles from the member's permanent residence.
Summary
This bill would require the Department of Defense to reimburse reserve military members for motor vehicle rental costs when they travel more than 150 miles for inactive-duty training or Ready Reserve muster duty. The reimbursement would cover rental costs for the entire period of training or duty, as well as for travel days immediately before or after the training period. The change applies to reserve component members whose actual travel expenses include car rental costs. The Secretary of Defense would have 180 days to update the Joint Travel Regulations for the Uniformed Services to implement this provision.
