HR 5987 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Total Force Family Education Act
To amend title 10, United States Code, to ensure equitable access to Department of Defense Education Activity schools for dependents of certain members of the reserve components performing active service.
Summary
This bill amends federal military law to ensure that dependents of reserve component members performing active service have access to Department of Defense Education Activity schools. The bill grants automatic enrollment at DoDEA schools located at the military installation where the reserve member is permanently stationed, provided there is sufficient space. If space is not available, dependents are placed on a wait-list for enrollment. The provision applies to reserve component members on active service who receive a permanent change of station order accompanied by their families.
