To require the Secretary of Commerce to conduct a census of population counting only citizens of the United States, and for other purposes.
Summary
The Correct the Count Act requires the Secretary of Commerce to conduct a census of population that counts only United States citizens in any tabulation of population by state. The bill requires the Commerce Department to include a citizenship question on census questionnaires that asks respondents to indicate, for themselves and each household member, whether they are a U.S. citizen. The census would be conducted in accordance with existing census law, except for this modification to count only citizens.
