HJRES 23 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Disapproving of the rule submitted by the Department of Homeland Security relating to "Increase of the Automatic Extension Period of Employment Authorization and Documentation for Certain Employment Authorization Document Renewal Applicants".
Disapproving of the rule submitted by the Department of Homeland Security relating to ``Increase of the Automatic Extension Period of Employment Authorization and Documentation for Certain Employment Authorization Document Renewal Applicants''.
Summary
This joint resolution would disapprove and invalidate a Department of Homeland Security rule that extended the automatic extension period for employment authorization documents (the work permits given to certain immigrants). If approved, this resolution would cancel the rule, which would mean employment authorizations would no longer receive the extended automatic extension period for renewal applicants. This is a Congressional Review Act disapproval, which allows Congress to overturn federal agency rules.
