SJRES 99 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
A joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services relating to "Removal of the Automatic Extension of Employment Authorization Documents".
S. J. RES. 99 Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services relating to ``Removal of the Automatic Extension of Employment Authorization Documents''.
Summary
This joint resolution disapproves of an interim final rule issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services titled "Removal of the Automatic Extension of Employment Authorization Documents," which was published on October 30, 2025. If approved by Congress, the rule would have no force or effect and would be invalidated. The resolution uses the Congressional Review Act process, which allows Congress to disapprove regulations issued by federal agencies within a specified time period. The disapproval would prevent the USCIS rule from taking effect or continuing to apply.
