HJRES 170 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection relating to the withdrawal of the rule relating to "The Fair Credit Reporting Act's Limited Preemption of State Laws".
Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection relating to the withdrawal of the rule relating to ``The Fair Credit Reporting Act's Limited Preemption of State Laws''.
Summary
This joint resolution disapproves of a rule issued by the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection that withdrew a previous regulation concerning the Fair Credit Reporting Act's limited preemption of state laws. Under the Congressional Review Act, by disapproving this withdrawal rule, Congress would effectively prevent the bureau from withdrawing the original rule, thereby maintaining the Fair Credit Reporting Act's limited preemption framework for state laws. The resolution declares that the withdrawal rule shall have no force or effect.
