HJRES 165 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection relating to the withdrawal of the rule relating to "Fair Credit Reporting; Permissible Purposes for Furnishing, Using, and Obtaining Consumer Reports".
Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection relating to the withdrawal of the rule relating to ``Fair Credit Reporting; Permissible Purposes for Furnishing, Using, and Obtaining Consumer Reports''.
Summary
The joint resolution disapproves of the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection's decision to withdraw a rule on fair credit reporting and permissible purposes for furnishing, using, and obtaining consumer reports. The rule being withdrawn was originally published in July 2022. If passed, the joint resolution would prevent the withdrawal from taking effect and keep the original rule in place. This uses the Congressional Review Act, which allows Congress to disapprove of federal agency rules.
