Summary

This bill increases the burial and funeral expense benefit provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs for veterans who die from service-connected disabilities, raising the maximum benefit from $2,000 to $3,000. The bill adds an automatic cost-of-living adjustment mechanism that increases the benefit amount each fiscal year based on the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index. The adjustment is calculated using the CPI change for the 12-month period ending June 30 preceding each fiscal year.
