Veterans Burial Allowance and Reimbursement Act of 2026
To amend title 38, United States Code, to standardize the payment of burial and funeral expenses and plot allowances for deceased veterans under the laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill amends federal law to standardize burial and funeral expense benefits for deceased veterans under the Department of Veterans Affairs. It consolidates previously separate burial benefit provisions into a single section of law and expands eligibility to include veterans who die as a result of service-connected disabilities. The bill also makes conforming changes to related provisions of federal veterans affairs law to reflect these consolidations.
