S 3184 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Tribal Internet Expansion Act of 2025
To amend the Communications Act of 1934 to add access to telecommunications and information services in Indian country and areas with high populations of Indian people to the universal service principle relating to access to those services in rural, insular, and high cost areas.
Summary
This bill amends the Communications Act of 1934 to expand the universal service principle to include Indian country and areas with high populations of Indian people. Currently, the universal service principle ensures access to telecommunications and information services in rural, insular, and high cost areas. This bill adds Indian country and areas with significant Indian populations to the areas that must be covered under universal service principles. The amendment modifies Section 254(b)(3) of the Communications Act to incorporate these additional areas into the definition of areas requiring universal service access.
