S 2597 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Saving the Department of the Interior's Workforce Act
To institute a reduction in force moratorium at all agencies and bureaus of the Department of the Interior, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill institutes a moratorium on reductions in force across all agencies and bureaus of the Department of the Interior until full-year appropriations for the Department for fiscal year 2026 have been enacted into law. During the moratorium, the Secretary of the Interior cannot initiate reductions in force or conduct involuntary separations of employees in the competitive service, career employees in the excepted service, or career appointees in the Senior Executive Service. Involuntary separations are permitted only for cause, based on charges of misconduct, delinquency, or performance. The moratorium does not affect other types of adverse personnel actions available under federal law.
