Summary

This bill would modify Medicare coverage and payment rules for orthotics and prosthetics to protect beneficiaries. It would prohibit Medicare payment for orthotics and prosthetics delivered directly to patients without proper training and fitting from qualified practitioners. The bill expands the types of qualified practitioners who can provide these services, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, orthotists, and prosthetists, and ensures Medicare coverage for replacement custom-fitted and custom-fabricated orthotic devices.
