Hatchie River Wild and Scenic River Study Act of 2025
To amend the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act to designate a segment of the Hatchie River in the State of Tennessee for study for potential addition to the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System.
Summary
This bill designates approximately 163 miles of the Hatchie River in Tennessee, from the Mississippi-Tennessee state line to its confluence with the Mississippi River, for study for potential addition to the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. The Secretary of the Interior is required to complete the study within three years of funds becoming available and submit a report of findings to the appropriate Congressional committees. The study must identify opportunities to administer the river segment in partnership with state, regional, local, and community stakeholders. The bill does not directly add the Hatchie River to the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System but authorizes an evaluation period to determine whether such designation is appropriate.
