HR 7065 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Seneca Nation Law Enforcement Efficiency Act
To nullify the applicability of the Act of July 2, 1948, with respect to the reservations of the Seneca Nation of Indians in New York.
Summary
This bill would nullify the effect of the Act of July 2, 1948, which granted jurisdiction to New York State over Seneca Nation reservations. Under the 1948 law, New York State had civil and criminal jurisdiction over Seneca Nation territories. The bill would remove that state jurisdiction and allow the Seneca Nation to exercise jurisdiction over their own reservations. The change requires written approval from both the U.S. Attorney General and the Seneca Nation of Indians.
