A BILL
To designate the area of 16th Street Northwest between H Street Northwest and K Street Northwest in the District of Columbia as the “Charlie Kirk Freedom of Speech Plaza”, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the “Charlie Kirk Freedom of Speech Plaza Act”.
SEC. 2. DESIGNATION OF CHARLIE KIRK FREEDOM OF SPEECH PLAZA.
(a) Designation of Plaza.—
(1) In general.—The area of 16th Street Northwest between H Street Northwest and K Street Northwest in the District of Columbia (formerly symbolically designated as “Black Lives Matter Plaza” under the Black Lives Matter Plaza Designation Act of 2020 (sec. 9-204.01 note, DC Official Code)), shall be known and designated as “Charlie Kirk Freedom of Speech Plaza”.
(2) References.—Any reference in a law, map, regulation, document, paper, or other record of the United States to the area referred to in paragraph (1) shall be deemed to be a reference to “Charlie Kirk Freedom of Speech Plaza”.
(b) Signs.—
(1) Construction.—The District of Columbia shall construct not less than 2 street signs that shall—
(A) contain the phrase “Charlie Kirk Freedom of Speech Plaza”; and
(B) be similar in design to the signs used by the District of Columbia to designate the location of Metro stations.
(2) Placement.—Not later than 90 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the District of Columbia shall place the signs constructed under paragraph (1) above existing signs at the intersection of 16th Street Northwest and H Street Northwest and the intersection of 16th Street Northwest and K Street Northwest. <all>
