HR 6479 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Puerto Rico Affordable Care Act of 2025
To amend the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to require the establishment of an Exchange in Puerto Rico, and for other purposes.
Summary
The bill amends the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to extend its coverage to Puerto Rico by requiring the establishment of a health insurance Exchange (marketplace) in Puerto Rico beginning one year after enactment. The bill ensures that health insurance market reforms and consumer protections under the Affordable Care Act, which were previously not fully applied to Puerto Rico, will now apply to health insurance coverage offered in Puerto Rico. The bill also allows Puerto Rico residents to claim premium tax credits (subsidies) for health insurance, treating Puerto Rico the same as the 50 states for tax credit eligibility purposes. All provisions take effect beginning one year after the bill is enacted.
