Keep Healthcare Affordable Act
To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to extend and modify the enhanced premium tax credit, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill extends enhanced premium tax credits for health insurance through 2029, which are currently scheduled to expire at the end of 2025. The premium tax credits provide subsidies to help individuals and families afford health insurance purchased through the health insurance marketplace. The bill also expands eligibility for these credits starting in 2026 by allowing households with incomes up to 1000 percent of the federal poverty line to receive subsidies, compared to the current threshold of 400 percent. These changes would make health insurance more affordable for a broader population through the end of the decade.
