Summary
This bill would direct the Secretary of State to develop and implement a strategy to relocate the headquarters of the United Nations from its current location in New York to an alternative location within the United States. The Secretary would be required to identify potential alternative sites and negotiate with the United Nations to renegotiate the 1947 agreement that established the UN headquarters location. The strategy would also include steps to facilitate Senate ratification of any amended agreement needed to implement the relocation. The Secretary would be required to implement the strategy as promptly as practicable and provide Congress with a report on the anticipated timeline and next steps for the relocation.
