HR 5087 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. To amend title 49, United States Code, to require passenger notification related to delayed flights, and for other purposes.
Summary
The bill requires airlines to provide automatic passenger notifications when flights experience delays or taxi delays of 15 or more minutes. Passengers must receive updates via email or text message at least every 15 minutes until the delay ends, and each notification must include the updated estimated departure and arrival times. Each notification must include an option for passengers to opt out of receiving further notifications for that flight. The requirement applies to covered air carriers operating both domestic and international flights. The bill amends title 49 of the United States Code to establish this new notification requirement.
