HR 395 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Justice for Rape Survivors Act
To require mandatory minimums for sexual abuse.
Summary
The Justice for Rape Survivors Act establishes mandatory minimum sentences for federal sexual abuse convictions. Under the bill, persons convicted of aggravated sexual abuse under Section 2241 of Title 18 must be imprisoned for not less than 30 years or for life, and persons convicted of sexual abuse under Section 2242 must receive the same mandatory minimum. These provisions replace the current sentencing framework that allows judges discretion in setting sentence length.
