Latest action (Jun 12, 2025) Referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, and in addition to the Committees on the Judiciary, and Financial Services, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.

Summary

This bill would repeal Section 5123 of Public Law 118-159, which relates to provisions of the Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act of 2019. The Caesar Act imposes sanctions on the Syrian government and individuals and entities that support the Syrian regime due to documented human rights abuses. Repealing this section would remove one of the statutory provisions implementing those sanctions. The bill does not specify what alternative policy or restrictions, if any, would replace the repealed section.
