Summary

This bill repeals Public Law 85-7, a joint resolution from 1957 entitled "A joint resolution to promote peace and stability in the Middle East," commonly known as the Eisenhower Doctrine. The repeal removes the authorization granted to the President to use military force to prevent communist aggression in the Middle East and to provide economic and military assistance to Middle Eastern countries under that authority. This repeals one of the Cold War-era military force authorizations that has remained in effect for nearly seven decades.
