HR 4241 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
To repeal sanctions with respect to the Syrian Arab Republic, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill repeals two pieces of legislation that have imposed sanctions on Syria. Specifically, it repeals Title VII of the Iran Threat Reduction and Syria Human Rights Act of 2012 (the Syria Human Rights Accountability Act of 2012) and Title LXXIV of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020 (the Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act of 2019). Repealing these laws would remove the legal basis for sanctions that were authorized under these statutes. The bill does not create alternative sanctions or restrictions on Syria, but simply removes the authority granted by these two prior laws.
