Kids on the Go Act of 2025

To amend title 23, United States Code, to provide for a reduced Federal share for a State that employs a safe routes to school coordinator.

Introduced Jun 11, 2025

Latest action (Jun 12, 2025) Referred to the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit.

Summary

This bill amends the federal safe routes to school program by increasing the federal funding share to 95 percent for states that employ a dedicated safe routes to school coordinator. Under the current law, states participating in the program must provide a certain share of project costs; this bill raises the federal government's share when a state has hired a coordinator. The safe routes to school program, established in title 23 of the United States Code, provides funding for projects that improve pedestrian and bicycle safety for students traveling to and from school. By offering a higher federal match, the bill aims to incentivize states to hire coordinators who can oversee and manage these safety projects.
