Expanding Access for Online Veteran Students Act
To amend title 38, United States Code, to increase the monthly housing stipend under the Post-9/11 Educational Assistance Program for individuals who pursue programs of education solely through distance learning on more than a half-time basis.
Summary
This bill increases the monthly housing stipend for veterans under the Post-9/11 Educational Assistance Program who pursue education programs solely through distance learning on a more than half-time basis. Currently, veterans in distance-learning programs receive 50 percent of the monthly housing stipend; the bill removes this 50 percent limitation, allowing them to receive the full monthly housing stipend amount. The change applies to education programs beginning on or after August 1, 2025. The bill applies only to veterans receiving benefits under the Post-9/11 Educational Assistance Program and pursing education exclusively through distance learning rather than in-person instruction.
