Veteran Education Assistance Adjustment Act

To amend title 38, United States Code, to provide for an annual increase in stipend for books, supplies, equipment, and other educational costs under Post-9/11 Educational Assistance Program of Department of Veterans Affairs.

Introduced Mar 6, 2025

Latest action (Feb 24, 2026) Forwarded by Subcommittee to Full Committee by Voice Vote.

Summary

This bill would increase the Post-9/11 Educational Assistance Program stipend for books, supplies, equipment, and other educational costs from $1,000 to $1,400 per year for eligible veterans. The bill would also establish an automatic annual adjustment mechanism beginning in fiscal year 2026, under which the Secretary of Veterans Affairs would increase these stipend amounts by a percentage equal to the inflation rate measured by the Consumer Price Index. The inflation adjustment would be calculated by comparing the Consumer Price Index for the 12-month period ending June 30 of the preceding year to the Consumer Price Index for the prior 12-month period, with increases rounded to the nearest dollar. This ensures that the educational assistance stipend keeps pace with inflation and changing educational costs.
