Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act of 2025
To amend the Public Health Service Act to reauthorize certain nursing workforce development programs, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill reauthorizes and expands federal nursing workforce development programs under the Public Health Service Act through 2030. It broadens advanced nursing education grants to cover nurse practitioners, nurse-midwives, nurse anesthetists, and clinical nurse specialists, and expands eligible uses of grant funds to include simulation technology, telehealth resources, and partnerships with health care facilities for clinical education. The bill increases authorized appropriations from approximately $138 million to $184 million annually for nursing education programs and from $117 million to $121 million for related programs. It also adds survivors of sexual assault to the targeted populations eligible for support and authorizes funding to increase the number of nursing faculty and students to address workforce shortages.
