To amend title 23, United States Code, with respect to vehicle weight limitations for certain logging vehicles, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill amends federal transportation law to exempt certain logging vehicles from federal vehicle weight limits on Interstate highways. The exemption applies to vehicles transporting raw or unfinished forest products such as logs, pulpwood, biomass, or wood chips when traveling not more than 150 air miles from the origin to a storage or processing facility. The vehicles must comply with the state's legal weight tolerances and vehicle configurations for transporting forest products within that state's boundaries. The exemption only applies to state weight limits that are in effect on the date the bill is enacted.
