Agricultural and Forestry Hauling Efficiency Act
To amend title 23, United States Code, to increase the maximum gross vehicle weight for certain agricultural vehicles operating on a segment of the Interstate System in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill would amend federal highway law to allow Virginia to issue special permits for agricultural and forestry vehicles to operate on Interstate highways in the state at a maximum gross vehicle weight of 90,000 pounds. The bill defines covered agricultural vehicles as those transporting unprocessed agricultural crops for food, feed, or fiber, or raw or unfinished forest products including logs, pulpwood, rough-sawn lumber, biomass, or wood chips. The provision would create an exception to standard federal vehicle weight limitations specifically for Virginia's agricultural and forestry transport operations.
