Guard and Reserve GI Bill Parity Act of 2025
To amend title 38, United States Code, to expand eligibility for Post- 9/11 Educational Assistance to members of the National Guard who perform certain full-time duty, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill expands eligibility for Post-9/11 Educational Assistance (GI Bill benefits) to members of the National Guard who perform certain types of duty. Specifically, it broadens the definition of qualifying service to include full-time National Guard duty and active duty performed by National Guard members under various military orders. The changes apply retroactively to service performed on or after September 11, 2001, meaning veterans may become newly eligible for benefits based on past service. The amendments take effect one year after the bill is enacted and follow the same time limitations for using benefits as existing Post-9/11 GI Bill rules.
