HR 1360 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
To require benefit eligibility determinations to be made within a certain period of time.
Summary
This bill establishes a timeline requirement for the Public Safety Officer Benefit (PSOB) program to make benefit eligibility determinations. The bill amends the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 to require that the Bureau administering the program inform claimants of their benefit eligibility determination within 270 calendar days (approximately 9 months) after receiving a claim. The requirement applies to all claims filed under the Public Safety Officer Benefit program. By establishing this deadline, the bill aims to ensure timely processing of benefit claims for public safety officers and their families.
