To direct the Comptroller General of the United States to conduct a study that identifies options to remove barriers and improve housing for persons who are elderly or disabled.
Summary
The Improving Housing Access Act directs the Comptroller General of the United States to conduct a study within one year to identify options for removing barriers and improving housing for elderly and disabled persons. The study will examine the potential impacts of providing capital advances for two federal supportive housing programs: the Section 202 program for elderly housing under the Housing Act of 1959, and the Section 811 program for housing for persons with disabilities under the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act. The Comptroller General's findings and recommendations will inform potential policy changes to improve housing access for these populations.
