S 3073 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Making continuing appropriations for the United States Capitol Police with respect to a Government shutdown.
Summary
This bill makes emergency appropriations for fiscal year 2026 to ensure the United States Capitol Police continue to receive pay and benefits during government shutdowns. The appropriations cover salaries, overtime, hazardous duty pay, health insurance, retirement contributions, and other benefits for Capitol Police officers designated as essential employees or performing emergency work, as well as civilian support staff and contractors. The Capitol Police are authorized to use these emergency funds only when regular appropriations are not in effect due to a lapse in funding. The bill is effective retroactively to October 1, 2025, and Capitol Police will receive back pay for any shutdown period that may have occurred before the bill's enactment through September 30, 2026.
