S 2357 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Young Fishermen’s Development Program Reauthorization Act
S. 2357 To reauthorize the Young Fishermen's Development Act, and for other purposes.
Summary
The Young Fishermen's Development Program Reauthorization Act extends the Young Fishermen's Development Act authorization through 2031, providing five additional years of funding for the program. The bill expands the types of training and assistance provided to include crew management, disaster preparedness, seafood handling, fishing portfolio diversification, and waterfront infrastructure management. It also requires the National Sea Grant Office to track participants' career progression and use outcomes data to evaluate the program's effectiveness and inform future grant decisions. The bill clarifies that consecutive training periods under the program must be non-concurrent.
