Livestock Indemnity Program Improvement Act of 2025
To require the Secretary of Agriculture to provide regular updates to Livestock Indemnity Program payment rates to reflect market prices, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill amends the Livestock Indemnity Program to require the Secretary of Agriculture to update livestock market value determinations on a quarterly basis, rather than less frequently. The Secretary shall determine market values in coordination with the Agricultural Marketing Service Administrator and using other appropriate resources. These more frequent updates ensure that indemnity payments to farmers for livestock losses due to natural disasters better reflect current market prices.
