Introduced Apr 3, 2025

Latest action (Apr 3, 2025) Read twice and referred to the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry.

Summary

This bill establishes a federal technical assistance program run by the Department of Agriculture to help rural hospitals and health clinics improve their operations and financial stability. The program will provide training and support to eligible rural health facilities to help them identify infrastructure and operational needs, improve business management, and apply for USDA loans and grants. The program prioritizes facilities already working with USDA and considers factors such as financial vulnerability, facility age, electronic health record needs, and location in areas with health professional shortages or underserved populations. The bill requires the Secretary to report annually to Congress on the program's progress, projects, outcomes, and recommendations for improvement. The bill authorizes up to $2 million per year from 2025 through 2029 to support the program's operations.
