Summary

This bill amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to restrict eligibility for R visas, which are immigration visas for religious workers coming to work for religious organizations in the United States. The bill prohibits individuals who hold certain Islamic religious leadership titles from being admitted under the R visa category, specifically individuals with titles including Imam, Grand Imam, Shaykha, Mufti, Grand Mufti, Ayatollah, or Grand Ayatollah. The restriction applies only to individuals with these specific titles; other religious workers and individuals with different titles would continue to be eligible for R visas under existing law. The bill does not affect other visa categories or immigration pathways for these individuals. This change would prevent religious leaders with these titles from entering the United States on R visas to work for religious organizations.
