No Delays in Disaster Relief Act
To direct the Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency to appoint an Acting Regional Administrator in any case in which a Regional Administrator position of the Agency has been vacant for at least 90 days, and for other purposes.
Summary
The No Delays in Disaster Relief Act would require the Federal Emergency Management Agency to appoint Acting Regional Administrators when a Regional Administrator position remains vacant for at least 90 days. These Acting Regional Administrators would have authority to make grant and programmatic decisions and process Federal disaster relief funding to States and local governments without delay. The bill aims to prevent funding delays that can occur during vacancies in regional leadership positions. Within 180 days of enactment, the FEMA Administrator must report to Congress on implementation efforts, including data on grant processing timelines, challenges encountered, and any recommended legislative or administrative changes to improve the timeliness of Federal assistance delivery.
