Summary

This bill amends the War Powers Resolution to prevent Authorizations for Use of Military Force (AUMFs) from receiving expedited congressional consideration procedures if they authorize military action for more than 5 years or for an indefinite period. Currently, AUMFs can receive priority procedures that speed up their consideration in Congress. Under this bill, any AUMF that exceeds the 5-year limit or lacks a defined end date would no longer qualify for these expedited procedures. The bill applies to any military authorization introduced after its enactment.
