District of Columbia Juror Pay Parity Act
To amend title 11, District of Columbia Official Code, to provide that grand and petit jurors serving in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia shall receive fees and expenses at the same rates paid to grand and petit jurors appearing in the district courts of the United States.
Summary
This bill amends District of Columbia law to ensure that jurors serving in the DC Superior Court receive the same fees and expenses as jurors serving in federal district courts. Currently, DC Superior Court jurors receive lower compensation than their federal counterparts. The bill aligns the pay rates by requiring DC jurors to receive compensation equivalent to what federal jurors receive. The change takes effect on the first day of the first fiscal year following the bill's enactment.
