Debt-to-GDP Transparency and Stabilization Act
To require that the President's annual budget submission to Congress and any concurrent resolution on the budget include the ratio of the public debt to the estimated gross domestic product of the United States, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill amends federal budget law to require that the President's annual budget submission to Congress include the ratio of the nation's public debt to the estimated gross domestic product. It also requires the same debt-to-GDP ratio to be included in the concurrent resolution on the budget that Congress passes annually. Additionally, both the President's budget submission and Congress's budget resolution must include the ratio of the federal surplus or deficit to the estimated GDP. These changes aim to make key fiscal metrics more transparent in the federal budget process.
