HR 6612 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Defense Civilian Faculty Copyright Act of 2025
To amend title 17, United States Code, to provide for the royalty-free use by Federal Government of literary works produced by civilian faculty members of the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in the course of such employment, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill amends federal copyright law to include the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in the category of government entities whose employees' literary works are automatically owned by the Federal Government. Literary works created by civilian faculty members at the university in the course of their employment will be considered Federal Government works and will not be subject to copyright protection. This means such works can be used royalty-free by the government and are freely available to the public. The bill makes conforming amendments to reorganize the statutory references.
